What is the JMO Support Line?
The JMO Support Line connects JMOs with senior clinicians from different districts, networks, and specialties, offering advice and support tailored to their needs.
Why would calling the JMO Support Line be useful to me?
Speaking with a senior clinician who is specially trained to support JMOs can offer numerous benefits, including:
-
Personalised, practical advice grounded in clinical experience
-
Insights into the challenges commonly faced by training doctors
-
Reassurance from someone who can relate to your experiences
-
A psychologically safe space to voice your concerns
-
Validation of your experiences from an understanding professional
-
Guidance on next steps or possible solutions.
Is the service confidential? Can I trust that what is discussed will not impact on my work or future career prospects?
Yes, the service is entirely confidential. It is designed to provide support and advice from a senior clinician who understands your situation, with enough distance from your current workplace to ensure you feel safe to share and seek advice.
Will I speak to a senior clinician straight away?
When you call the JMO Support Line, the operator will schedule an appointment for you to speak with a senior clinician at a mutually convenient time.
I need to speak to someone immediately. What should I do?
The JMO Support Line is not an emergency service. If you need help now, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or the Suicide Call Back Service on 1300 659 467.
